If something takes a matter of 5 minutes, make absolutely sure that you help the potential customer out, since it may very well help you in increasing revenue for you or your employer!
I recently had a problem that I had to work through over this weekend. I have a riding mower that I had to replace the valve stem of one of the tires on it. I had a replacement valve stem, and the tool to install it. The one item I was having a problem with was breaking what is known as the “bead seal”. I ran the tire over to a local tire repair/replacement company to get them to break the bead seal.
Now, I actually did this myself several times at a local gas station some 25 years ago because a friend was working there and let me do it myself. So I knew it was possible no matter what size tubeless tire was having to be repaired (aside from a bicycle tire of course).
The first service delivery manager began by trying to say they couldn’t do it, by lining up some bogus reasons why they couldn’t do it. Luckily, there happened to be another service delivery manager in the store near the desk at the same time, taking care of another customer. He told the other guy that he would try to take care of it.
Well after he finished up with the other customer he asked a couple minor questions like was it removed from the mower. After he took a few minutes to break the bead seal I asked him what the price was for taking care of it for me. He said nothing, especially since it took virtually no time, but to keep them in mind for any future tire replacements for my vehicles.
I will definitely keep their company in mind for any future tire replacements. That isn’t to say I was unhappy with the people I trust to replace the tires that I’ve had to replace already. This other company is however about 30 miles closer to my house, so convenience is a factor. Not to mention the abrupt attention to my problem that had arisen.
So, have you done this, and with what do you trust with this kind of attention and care?
